Zoraima, the driving force behind this operation, hails from Minorca, Spain. Introduced to culinary arts in her youth by her family. The co-owner and creator of Paellas San Juan has worked for more than 25 years in the gastronomic sector throughout Spain in places like Minorca (her hometown), the Canary Islands, Cordoba and Barcelona, in this last city she led a team in a cutting-edge restaurant of exotic tapas. She has also assisted courses in the city of Barcelona that were presented by the Sous-chef of El Bulli, restaurant owned by Ferran Adrian. With her experience and her passion for gastronomy, she started this family business at the Friday Harbor farmers market in 2016 and it has continued to grow since then. Additionally, she traveled to Morocco to immerse herself in their incredible gastronomy.
Born in Miami, Ray is the first generation in his family born in the United States, with Cuban parents and Spanish grandparents. Trained as a marine mechanic, his profession has allowed him to live and travel across various cities and countries. Ray seamlessly blends his work with his culinary passion, having worked in numerous restaurants in Spain.
Hi!! My name is Gleb Caireac, I’ve lived on San Juan Island for the majority of my life although originally I was born in Moldova! I love the island and it’s a great spot to be enjoy the nature that it has to offer. I joined the paella team in the summer of 2022 and I haven’t looked back since! I love working with the team and working with Paella’s has made me develop a passion for cooking. It’s always a good time with Ray and Zoraima! P.S I make a better meat paella then Elian (shhhh don’t tell him that)
Hello! I'm Elian Bayas, a lifelong resident of San Juan Island. I cherish spending time with my animals on the farm. Joining Paellas in the summer of 2023 has been a delight—I thoroughly enjoy working with the team, crafting incredible dishes, and, of course, indulging in the role of a taste tester.
Hello, I'm Doris Nagahama, a native of Peru, where I enjoyed growing up in a culturally diverse environment with rich global cuisine. Residing in Friday Harbor for over 20 years, I've served as a gardener at Roche Harbor. Joining Paellas in 2018 has been an enriching experience—a flavorful journey filled with friendship.
